Reducing Economic Violence: Muea Women Gain Entrepreneurial Skills
D-Light Foundation, together with Hadassah Foundation and AWEC, on December 6th 2025 organized an empowerment session in the Muea community (Quarter 7).
The main focus of the session was to equip the women with practical income-generation skills. About 11 participants were trained in the preparation of Puff-puff and Beans, a popular and easily marketable local dish. This was a vital skill to start their own businesses and achieve financial independence – a powerful step in reducing economic violence against women!
The training ended with an award to the most interactive participant. She received a start-up capital (in kind) to launch her business immediately. Hearty congratulations to Rosemary!!!
Together, we are building a safer and more equitable future.
The session was also aimed at sensitizing women and girls on cancer, specifically breast cancer.
A cancer survivor from the D-LIGHT Foundation shared her cancer journey. This reinforced the message: #”Cancer can be cured”# and early detection saves lives!
Every participant was taught the importance of daily Breast Self-Examination (BSE). The core message was: “Any lump, however tiny, you feel on your breast, do not hide it. Speak out! Get screened! And Seek help!
